Essence Bodywork Essence Bodywork is a theraputic method through which the practitioner receives intuitively messages from the clients body about their attitudes, beliefs, past events or the momentary space they are in and then performs bodywork from the information received.

Essence Bodywork is a theraputic method through which the practitioner receives intuitively messages from the clients body about their attitudes, beliefs, past events or the momentary space they are in, that can inhibit their wellbeing. Massage technique, the space of meditation and the ability to intuitively tune into the client are used to support the client to connect to their true self, the essence. We can describe essence with words of silence, lifeforce or presence. Body and psyche are connected with each other as one. Everything that happens in the psyche will express itself somehow on the level of the body. All past events are forming the personality. Therefore, if we touch someone, we also touch their whole inner world of emotions and mind.

Massage leads to a better awareness of the body and also helps to experience suppressed emotions more clearly. In Essence Bodywork the practitioner is not only sensitive towards the physical, energetic and psychic bodies but tries most of all to meet the true self, the essence through touch. When the client starts to remember the essence, and relaxation occurs, identification with experiences, emotions, thoughts and sensations can start to dissolve. The person is being reminded to that part which is already healthy and at home. Out of this experience something can start to grow and expand. Transformation happens by itself.

A treatment begins with a talk to get to know the client’s circumstances of life at the present moment. After that follows the part of energy reading. The practitioner receives messages from the client’s body that might give information about the cause of eventual energy blockages. In the same time the practitioner checks which parts of the body are in connection with the essence. Those parts are strong resources and doors to deep relaxation into the here and now with that ,that is. Through the energy reading before and during the session the practitioner is receiving information which creates a whole picture.

After the session the practitioner is sharing his/her impression in a supporting way with the receiver. Essense bodywork is for people that want to explore their inner world and get to know themselves better in a loving and supporting atmosphere. The Essence bodywork hands-on techniques are joint release, long and short massage strokes, stretches, energy work. The massage techniques are taught and practiced and eventually the practitioner is responding intuitively to the messages of the receiver’s body with his or her hands

This training is designed for people who are new to bodywork that are drawn to this way of healing or to experienced bodyworkers who wish to include the essence into their work.

The course schedule
Level 1 10 days ( 75 hours )

6:30 am yoga
7:30 am breakfast
9:00 am Essence class.
1:00 pm lunch
3:00 pm class
6:30 pm silent sitting
8.00 pm dinner

Some evening classes as well.
Some spontaneous beach time.

The Course Content

• Whole bodymassage
• Anatomy
• How to create a relational field
• Communication (how to receive a client,resource oriented communication and how to give a supporting feedback)
• Energy reading (what is energy, how does it happen, how to read and different kinds of readings, how to deal with and translate with what one sees)
• Resourcing
• Basic theory of trauma healing (as an extra tool in communication and to explain how the nervous system functions and discharges tension) -Awareness exercises and meditation

Note: In between Level I and Level II of Essence Bodywork training there needs to be 20 sessions given by the practitioner which are documented.

Contents of part 2 :

• Deepening the bodyworktechnique
• Deepeing the energyreadin
• -Essence reading (which parts of the body are are present , and how to include them into a session )different types of clients
• how to support the receiver with ones own presence and touch
• responsibility of the therapist ( projections ,ethics ,hygiene )
• space of “ not knowing “
• meditations and awareness exercises

After level II the practitioner needs to give a feedback session to one
of the staffmembers and receives than an Essence Bodywork certificate.

Raaji Dessena Biography

I have been interested in healing from a young age I studied art and dance as well as the healing effects of creativity and expression on our body and spirit. I also sing and play the guitar, exploring and sharing the healing qualities of sound in singing circles.

From 1990 I started studying bodywork and have since become certified in various modes of healing including Shiatsu, Hawaiian Healing Massage, Aquabalancing, Aura Soma , Dorntechnique, Trauma Healing (from P. Levine), and Craniosacral Balancing. I’m also a certified Reiki master, Modern Dance and Gymnastics teacher and have studied Yoga and Meditation . I have met and learned from many teachers and masters, the most important ones are Osho and Tyohar .

From all these techniques ‘Essence Bodywork’ has been created. I now
share and teach Essence Bodywork in Switzerland and Costa Rica.

I have been practicing healing work for five years as a rebalancer. The latest healing work I have created is "Golden Inquiry" which is an Inquiry process looking inward to find the truth of the moment. I am looking forward to assisting Raaji in the Essence Bodywork course as this work resonates with me very much.
